CoyDog Botanicals & Yoga and Leslii Stevens ERYT500 are thrilled to announce another 4 week-long special series "Heart-Centered Living" designed to bring healing, empowerment, and connection to our community. Each week, we’ll dive into a unique focus, blending yoga, movement, and mindfulness with a sprinkle of rock star flair to make every moment unforgettable. Whether you're a seasoned yogi or new to this journey, there's something here for everyone.
February is all all bout Self-Love, Connection, and Nurturing the Heart through Yoga Practices, how to use Resistance Bands in a Yoga Class , Ayurveda Tips, and Rituals.
"Heart-Centered Living"
Focus on self-love, connection, and nurturing the heart, physically, emotionally, and energetically. Classes and newsletters will explore heart health (Ayurveda tips), heart-opening yoga, and the power of connection.
Week 1: Grounding & Strengthening Your Foundation (Feb 2-8)
Focus on poses like Mountain Pose, Downward Dog, Warrior I & II, and Child's Pose to strengthen your foundation and create a stable base.
Focus on resistance band exercises targeting core and leg strength: Squats, glute bridges, and leg lifts with bands.
Goal: Establish a deep connection to the earth while improving alignment and posture.
Create stability and strength in key muscle groups while integrating the breath into movement.
Breathwork: Start with grounding breaths—inhale for 4 counts, exhale for 6 counts.
Energy Balancing: Incorporate pranayama (breath control) with movement, to enhance the flow of prana (life force) and create internal strength.
Vata Dosha: Vata can be aggravated during the winter months. Use warming foods (soups, stews, root vegetables) and avoid too much cold/raw food. Support your grounding practice with warmth from inside out.
Week 2: Unleashing Flexibility & Opening Energy Pathways (Feb9-15)
Focus on dynamic stretches like Forward Fold, Pigeon Pose, and Cat-Cow to open the hips and spine. Incorporate resistance band stretches to increase flexibility in the shoulders, hamstrings, and hip flexors.
Goal: Improve flexibility while unlocking the flow of energy in the body. Enhance the flow of prana by targeting energy blocks with dynamic stretches and band resistance.
Energy Work: Focus on the Sushumna Nadi (central energy channel) through supported stretches and deep breathing.
Pitta Dosha: Keep your body cool with fresh salads, cooling herbs like mint, and drinking plenty of water throughout the day. A gentle detoxing approach helps keep your mind clear and your energy balanced.
Week 3: Harnessing Your Inner Strength & Fluidity (Feb 16-22)
Focus on core-building poses such as Plank, Boat Pose, and low-lunge twists. Resistance band core work: Ab twists, leg raises, and seated band work.
Goal: Build inner strength and fluidity in movement. Focus on connecting breath to core engagement. Establish inner power while maintaining fluidity in movement.
Breathwork: Use Kapalbhati (skull-shining breath) to invigorate the body and release tension.
Energy Work: Emphasize grounding and stability through core strengthening exercises. Use breath to move energy.
Kapha Dosha: The dampness of winter can bring imbalance to Kapha. Incorporate warming spices such as ginger, turmeric, and black pepper into meals to support your digestion and boost energy levels.
Week 4: Restoration, Balance & Renewal (Feb 23-Mar 1)
Focus on restorative poses such as Child’s Pose, Supta Baddha Konasana, and supported Savasana. Deep stretch work with resistance bands, focusing on opening the chest, shoulders, and back. Include gentle myofascial release using balls for deeper tissue work.
Goal: Deeply relax the body and mind, allowing for integration and renewal. Allow the body to reset, releasing any stored tension and balancing energy.
Energy Work: Conclude with a short meditation to reset energy and promote overall balance.
Take time for Abhyanga (self-massage with oil). This will help soothe the nervous system, promote circulation, and deeply nourish the skin—perfect for the winter season.
